What is the situation that businesses in the region are facing with respect to labour and entrepreneurial succession? SADC to launch an extensive survey

enquete en

As is the case in many other regions in Quebec, Gatineau Valley entrepreneurs are experiencing some problems recruiting and retaining labour and are concerned about succession as it relates to their own companies. Aside from these comments, however, there is little accurate data on the regional situation with respect to this issue.

The Gatineau Valley SADC, with the financial cooperation of Emploi Québec, is embarking on a major survey to gather accurate up-to-date information on the labour market in the Gatineau Valley and specifically the actual problems of attracting, recruiting and retaining labour, in addition to supplementing data already collected on entrepreneurial succession.

The participation of regional entrepreneurs in this survey will help SADC and its partners in the RCM effectively pinpoint the issues in order to chart the course they will take in the next few years.

Pierre Monette, the General Manager of SADC, points out that this will benefit the entire business community in the Gatineau Valley. He is therefore appealing to both the role and responsibility of each entrepreneur to respond to the survey so that, collectively, we can address the future issues of attracting, recruiting and retaining labour and ensuring succession within companies.

Moreover, all of these topics will be covered in a comprehensive regional project entitled “Chantier rèleve,” which should kick off in early 2019 with a symposium that will probably last two days.

Between October 23 and November 23, several entrepreneurs will be contacted by a representative of BIP, the firm in charge of the survey, and asked to answer a questionnaire lasting about 15 minutes.

Respondents can respond to the survey either over the phone or on line in either English or French, as they choose. This is an appeal to everyone in the Gatineau Valley business community to respond in large numbers.
